Senior Data/AI/ML Software Engineer

Location: Hybrid (San Francisco Bay Area) or Remote (US Only for exceptional candidates)

Compensation: $150,000 - $300,000 (Varies based on level and location) + Equity

We are a pioneering Clinical Data Intelligence platform that leverages cutting-edge AI, Machine Reading, and Knowledge Graph technology to automate cognitive tasks involving clinical data. Our solutions directly empower clinicians, researchers, and care coordinators to improve efficiency, reduce frustration, and enhance patient care. We are seeking a Senior Data/AI/ML Software Engineer to build and scale the core components of our mission-critical platform.

You'll be responsible for designing, implementing, and improving data-intensive systems that automate the extraction and synthesis of health information. Your work directly impacts applications used by clinicians every day.

What you'll do:

  • AI/ML Development: Build and improve clinical/health information extractors and summarizers that utilize advanced Machine Learning (ML), Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Large Language Model (LLM) prompt engineering.
  • Data Pipelining: Design, implement, and maintain robust data pipelines to scrape, collect, extract, transform, query, analyze, mine, and distill both structured and unstructured data.
  • System Intelligence: Contribute to expanding and refining our clinical knowledge graph and building supporting data/AI/ML systems and automations to evaluate system quality and performance.
  • Security & Compliance: Develop and deploy secure code, upholding the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information systems in compliance with HIPAA and SOC 2 .
  • Operations: Participate in rotating on-call duties to ensure continuous system uptime and reliability.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience: 7+ years of full-time (not internship or contract) experience in AI/ML or full stack software engineering , specifically with data-intensive systems.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong background in software engineering, AI/ML/NLP engineering, and data analytics/engineering.
  • Core Stack: Proficiency in Python and SQL along with experience using core data tools like PostgreSQL, dbt, and BigQuery.
  • ML/AI Tools: Hands-on experience with ML/AI technologies such as LLM prompt engineering and frameworks like PyTorch .
  • Systems Engineering: Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Google Cloud Platform ), Linux, bash scripting, and building web services (e.g., Django, FastAPI).
  • Compliance: Comfortable developing secure systems and processes in compliance with regulated standards.
  • Work Eligibility: Must be authorized to work in the United States .

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with the healthcare and medical domains .
  • Experience with front-end technologies like TypeScript and React .

  • Compensation: Highly competitive salary ($150,000 - $300,000) and an attractive equity package (0.1%-0.5%).
  • Flexibility: We are a remote-first company, offering remote work for truly exceptional candidates, though most team members in the Bay Area enjoy a hybrid schedule (San Francisco office once or more weekly).
  • Timezone: Must be able to work during core hours in the Pacific timezone .
