Picture this: Its 8:00 PM. Youre starting a night shift on a 7-on/7-off rotation. You check the crystallizers, collect pilot-lab samples, log results, and tweak settings to keep quality within spec. A pump throws a faultyou isolate the issue, make a mechanical adjustment, and restore optimal flow. You coordinate with your supervisor to dial in the line for the next run, then jump on mobile equipment to support material movement. Thats a snapshot of life as a Food Process Operations Technician in beet sugar.

Your mission

• Run and monitor processing systems and mobile equipment to extract and crystallize sugar from sugar beets.
• Carry out pilot lab sampling and analysis to validate product quality and process performance.
• Conduct mechanical inspections, make adjustments, and troubleshoot to keep operations at peak efficiency.
• Partner with supervisors to configure equipment to meet processing rate goals and production quality standards.
• Contribute through hands-on, physical work wherever needed.

What it takes

• High School diploma or GED.
• Read, write, and speak English to understand and interpret technical documentation.
• Ability to use common tools.
• Basic computer competency.
• Availability to work BOTH day and night shifts.

Physical realities of the job

• Expect standing, bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, squatting/crouching/kneeling, climbing stairs and ladders, and balancing.
• Lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and up to 100 lbs with help.
• Follow safety protocols, including wearing required PPE, beard and hairnets, and appropriate clothing.

Work schedule

• Day shift: 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM
• Night shift: 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM
• Rotation: 7 day shifts, 7 days off, 7 night shifts, 7 days off
• This role works BOTH day and night schedules.
