Audio Visual (AV) Programmer
About the role Electra Link is seeking an AV Programmer to build, test, and support control systems for conference rooms, classrooms, command centers, and specialty spaces. You’ll translate designs and user needs into reliable, intuitive control experiences across Crestron/AMX/Q-SYS ecosystems.
What you’ll do Programming & Commissioning - Develop, test, and deploy control code and GUIs (e.g., Crestron SIMPL/SIMPL#, AMX NetLinx, Q-SYS Control/Lua, Extron).
- Configure AV DSPs (e.g., Biamp Tesira, Q-SYS) and networked audio (Dante) and video (NVX, SVSI, NDI when applicable).
- Integrate third-party systems (Zoom/Teams rooms, occupancy sensors, lighting/shades, building control, digital signage).
- Develop user interfaces focused on clarity and ease of use.
- Be able to document code inline, enabling others to understand what you have written.
Integration & Networking - Configure VLANs, QoS, multicast/IGMP, and device addressing for AV over IP solutions in coordination with client IT.
- Harden systems (passwords, firmware, certificates) and document network/port requirements.
Documentation & Support - Produce as-builts: code repositories, comments, user flows, GUI maps, IP lists.
- Produce user documentation for system operation.
- Author test plans and acceptance criteria, and train end users.
- Triage bugs, perform remote diagnostics, and support post-go-live warranty.
Collaboration & Standards - Partner with design engineers, field technicians, and PMs to deliver on schedule.
- Contribute to internal code libraries, templates, and UI standards.
- Provide level-of-effort estimates and risks during pre-sales/scoping.
What you’ll bring - 5+ years building and commissioning control systems in commercial AV.
- Proficiency with at least one core stack: Crestron (SIMPL/SIMPL#, Toolbox, VT Pro-e/Crestron Construct/CH5), AMX NetLinx/TPDesign, or Q-SYS Designer + Lua.
- Crestron Certified Programmer.
- Hands-on with DSP tuning (Biamp/Q-SYS) and room acoustics fundamentals.
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, multicast/IGMP, PoE, and AV-over-IP.
- Strong troubleshooting and communication skills; comfortable on job sites and with clients.
Nice to have - Certs: AVIXA CTS/CTS-I/CTS-D, Crestron CTI-P/DM-NVX/Master Certification, Q-SYS Level 2/Control 201+, Biamp Tesira, Dante Level 2/3.
- Scripting skills (Lua, Python, C#) and REST/JSON integrations.
- Experience with UC platforms (Zoom/Teams/Webex devices) and room scheduling.
- Graphic/UI design for touch panels (responsive layouts, accessibility).
- Experience with enterprise management tools (Xio Cloud, Q-SYS Reflect, AMX RMS).

Success looks like - 0 critical defects at handoff; <2% reopen rate during warranty.

- High end-user adoption is measured via fewer support tickets and positive customer satisfaction.
Work conditions - Ability to lift 40 lbs. and work on ladders as needed.
- Travel to client sites: 10–30% (regional).
- Occasional off-hours cutovers during installs.
