THE CRUX OF THE GOSPEL 1
” And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.”
1 Corinthians 15:14 (KJV)
Jesus did not only prophesy His death; He consistently prophesied His resurrection.
The cross though is a key element in preaching the gospel, it is not the foundation of the gospel. The foundation of the gospel is the death and the resurrection of Jesus our Lord.
Apart from the unique birth of Jesus and the reality that He is God; another truth which is feared and greatly opposed is the RESURRECTION OF JESUS.
There are many who will easily agree that Jesus died, but are agitated and filled with indignation when they hear of the Resurrection of Jesus.
The glorious news and the crux of preaching of the Gospel is the resurrection of Jesus.
Jesus did not only speak concerning His death, because speaking of His death wasn’t a surprise to the religious leaders. After all that was what they were plotting. It was the kind of death, the purpose of His death and His resurrection from the dead which shook the hearts of the religious leaders.
His disciples seemed to be only worried about His death.
You must intentionally uphold the goodnews of His resurrection.
When Jesus resurrected, He said, ALL HAIL, which also means REJOICE!
“And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.
And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.
And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.” Matthew 28:5-9 (KJV)
Which means His resurrection is a great news for us.
The resurrection of Jesus is the crux of the gospel because:
1. Without His resurrection there would have been no evidence of our Justification.
“who was betrayed and crucified because of our sins, and was raised [from the dead] because of our justification [our acquittal—absolving us of all sin before God]” Romans 4:25 ( Amplified Bible)
” Jesus was handed over to be crucified for the forgiveness of our sins and was raised back to life to prove that he had made us right with God!” Romans 4:25 (TPT)
We can now see the purpose and essence of His death and resurrection respectively.
He died because of our transgressions or sins.
And He resurrected as the evidence that we are declared not guilty.
Oh hallelujah!!!
2. The resurrection of Jesus made it possible for us to partake of the Newness of Life.
“…through his death the power of your sinful nature was shattered. Your old sin-loving nature was buried with him by baptism when he died; and when God the Father, with glorious power, brought him back to life again, you were given his wonderful new life to enjoy.” Romans 6:3-4 (TLB)
This is another glorious news concerning the resurrection of Jesus.
We see that in His death the nature of sin was terminated. But in His resurrection we received the Life of Christ.
Now you are partakers of His divine nature. (2 Peter 1:4). When you become born again, you share in the quality of life Christ has because of His resurrection.
It was by His resurrection we received eternal life.
” What a God we have! And how fortunate we are to have him, this Father of our Master Jesus! Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we’ve been given a brand-new life” 1 Peter 3-4 (MSG)
Beloved, imagine if Christ just died and did not resurrect, what would have been the basis of our good news that we are justified, and have the newness of life?
Whenever you see or hear someone aggressively or subtly opposing the resurrection of Jesus, then you should know the adversary is working through such, to cripple your faith.
He wants to make you doubt the reality that you are justified and have the eternal life of Christ.
The resurrection of Jesus is the foundation of our faith.
REJOICE IN THIS TRUTH!

That we shall manifest the reality of the resurrection power of our Lord Jesus in every sphere of our living.
