PRAYING ALWAYS WITH ALL PRAYER
“praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints”
Ephesians 6:18 (NKJV)
When you understand that there are deceptive forces opposing your victory and rest in Christ, you will appreciate the need to take up the whole armor of God and stay in communication with God.
Every believer in Christ is not a soldier on retreat, but a soldier on the battlefield enforcing the victory of Christ daily.
As we have already seen, prayer is a battlefield transceiver. And must not be neglected at any given time.
You are actively in touch with the Heavenly throne through prayer.
Prayer is the posture of every good soldier. To enforce your victory in Christ and to establish the light of the glory of God in dark places, you need both the armor pieces and prayer.
To exercise the victory we have in Christ, Paul the apostle, instructed that the believer must go all out in prayer.
“pray always with all prayer…”
This means:
1. There are different aspects or kinds of prayer.
2. And you must deploy all these aspects or kinds of prayer to get results.
Believers must treat prayer with all seriousness.
You have to pray always with all prayer. By implication, to pray “with all” prayer is an intense concentrated mixture of the various kinds of prayer.
Thus, though prayer is a general conversation and deep communion with God, it has different aspects.
There is a prayer of thanksgiving and praise, confession or declarative prayer or prayer of faith, petition or supplication and intercession.
All these aspects or kinds of prayer are done in the Spirit.
The praying in the Spirit mentioned in the verse above doesn’t suggest that you pray all prayers in tongues only or silently in your heart.
Praying in the Spirit is not limited to “praying in tongues”.
It doesn’t also mean it is wrong to “pray in tongues” as you pray always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit.
To pray always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit is to pray according to or under the power and influence of the Holy Spirit.
In this spiritual warfare, pray with thanksgiving in your heart knowing that, you have the victory. Pray declaring all that the Lord has accomplished for you and all the saints. Pray making specific requests from the Lord.
Don’t hesitate to pray, and don’t think that the Lord wouldn’t answer your prayer.
He has given you this battlefield transceiver because He is always ready to answer and direct you.
You don’t also have to struggle and be wondering what kind of prayer to pray at a time. Your prayer must be by the influence of the Holy Spirit and the knowledge of the Word.
As the Spirit of the Lord inspires, prompts and urges you to pray, He will lead you to know the kind of prayer posture to deploy.
Have you prayed today?
