ABOUND IN THESE THINGS 2 (ABUNDANT FRUIT-BEARERS 15)

“For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ” 2 Peter 1:8 (NKJV).

There are things God has dispensed into the saints, to make us bear much fruits.
In 2 Peter 1:3, we behold this beautiful reality that, God has given unto us all things (not somethings) that pertain to life and godliness.
Which means, you have all that is required to bear fruits.
Are there some believers in Christ who are not bearing fruits?
Certainly, there are.
Some believers in Christ, are not being fruitful because of their ignorance or unconsciousness. Until you come to the consciousness (which includes knowledge and understanding) of all that Christ has produced in you; bearing fruits may seem impossible.
Christ being the Vine has supplied rich items to us (His branches); to bear fruits unto the glory of the Father.

” as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” 2 Peter 1:3-4.

When you become born again:
a. You are called by glory and virtue.
b. God’s divine power has supplied you with all things that pertain to life and godliness (and this is made real to you through the Knowledge of Christ, plus nothing).
c. You have been given exceedingly great and precious promises
d. You are a partaker of the divine nature.
To be a partaker of God’s nature is to share in His character.
c. You have escaped the corruption of this world, because of the incorruptible quality of God’s life dispensed into you.
Beloved, you will never be fruitless living in the consciousness and conviction of these.
Now, Peter (apostle of our Lord Jesus), went on to list some additional items we need to deploy.

But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ” 2 Peter 2:5-8 (NKJV).

The phrase, “add”  doesn’t suggest we should strive to pray to God for any of the items listed there. It doesn’t mean we are to search out these things to have them.
He had already said in vrs3
” His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness…”

For example; “…the love of God is shared abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit” (Romans 5:5)

That should suggest that, to “add… love” in 2 Peter 1:5-7, doesn’t suggest you go looking for love to become fruitful. We already know that the love of God is poured into our hearts. We already have love. We already have faith. For how can “the just live by faith”, without having faith?
Christ had already authored our faith.(Hebrews 12:2).
The Greek word used for “add” is epichorēgeō; it means to lavishly supply or furnish.

Epichorēgeō is a compound word, from epi (upon) and choregeo (supply) which means to furnish upon. To furnish besides or in addition. To supply further. To add more unto.
Epichoregeo then conveys the thought of a generous and lavish provision – give lavishly, give generously and not to equip sparingly.
We may see it as a simple expression in this modern day, but it denotes a magnanimous or munificent acts in Ancient Greek.
Let me help you have a picture of the word, add ( Epichorēgeō), when Peter was inspired to write this second epistle.

Epichorēgeō is derived from choregós the name of the wealthy patron who would lavishly pay the wages for singers in his chorus, as well as pay the expenses of grand productions that were put on in cooperation with a poet and the state. The practice in Greece was for the state to establish a chorus but a choirmaster (choregus = director) paid the expenses for training and was responsible for supplying everything needed for choir.
Thus, the word means “to supply in copious measure, to provide beyond the need, to supply more than generously or more than is barely demanded.

( Wuest’s Word Studies from the Greek New Testament: Eerdmans or Logos)
The life you live now, is as a grand global production and you are the director and the producer.
Beloved, the grand show is on and you are fully resourced by God with all virtues and power to make it successful.
You have beyond what is needed as a wealthy patron, to bountifully supply in all matters for the production of great fruits.
Now, “ADD”, bountifully supply to your faith.

Remain blessed
DIG DEEPER
 ( Psalm 84:11; 1 Corinthians 3:21-23; Romans 8:32; 1 Corinthians 1:9; colossians 2:19; 2 Corinthians 9:10)

WE PRAY
We will grow and increase in the knowledge of God’s bountiful grace and virtues dispensed into us, that we will munificently make supply of these virtues and grace in all things.
