UNWAVERING IN FAITH NOT UNWAVERING FAITH

This writ is a response to a question I was asked in 2017 (27th June precisely).

I believe the answer provided has much verities to nourish you.

QUESTION

“Shalom Apostle, I am blessed by your ministry.

Please how do you have unshaken faith?” A.P

RESPONSE:

Shalom beloved of Christ,

I’m glad you are being blessed. Thank you so much for asking.

HOW TO HAVE AN UNWAVERING FAITH

To answer the question, we first have to know what Faith is. There are several meanings and explanations given to Faith. However, we best look at what Faith is in relation to the question asked.

What is Faith?

Please note that Faith is objective and subjective.

Objective Faith is the content of the message. Objective Faith is not a “what” but a “who”.

Objective Faith is a person and He is Jesus. He is the present reality. Subjective Faith is the response of faith produced in you at the hearing of the Word of Grace (or the Word of Faith). The Word of Grace is not merely quoting scriptures or the Bible. The Word of Grace is the revelation of Jesus and His finished Work for Us. And that is the objective of Faith. And it produces an unwavering response on the grounds of the person Jesus. This response is the subjective faith.

I would like you to know that the Faith of the New Creation is not merely the substance of things hoped for. It is not the evidence of the unseen.

Hebrews 11:1 speaks of the response of Faith in the Covenant of Promise.. They had their faith in the God of the promise. They were looking forward to the coming of Christ, who is the object of faith. God gave them a Faith which was an evidence of what shall be. We who are of the New Testament are having something bigger. With us Faith is the fulfillment. Our hope is not in the future. Hope has come. Our hope is living. We are now born-again unto a Living Hope (1Peter 1:3). The unseen has now been seen by us. He is not just an evidence, the Faith we have is the object.

Your Faith is Jesus. He is a person. Your Faith is not just in Him: your  Faith is Him.

He is the object of your Faith. He inspires your response. So the subjective is in reference to the objective.

The Objective faith is Jesus and his finished work. The subjective faith is the response which the message of Jesus and His finished work produces in you.

Subjective faith is the present possession of Grace (who is the object of Faith).

FAITH COMES

Galatians 3:23 says   “Now before faith came, we were held captive under the law, imprisoned until the coming faith will be revealed

Verse 25 ” But after that Faith is come, we are no longer under a school master”.

Did you see that, Faith is a person. Faith came in the person of Jesus. He came to deliver us from the demands and slavery of the Law. He is the revelation of Faith. He came to bring us liberty.

Now Faith has come objectively. Or let me say the Object of Faith (the substance) has come. In Christ, what was not seen (the unseen) has now been seen.

However He has to come into us subjectively.

How does Faith come?

Jesus is the object of our faith, as well as the Word of Grace. The Word is not the Bible, but the Bible expresses the Word. It contains the written Word. When the Word of Grace is preached from the Bible, it brings faith in your heart. Romans 10:17.

In the continuous hearing of the Word of Grace, we are built more and more in Faith.. When you hear Jesus and His finished work, you are built up in Faith. Jesus (the Word) came not to condemn. His words brought the fullness of joy. By His words many were strengthened and not discouraged.

Interestingly, Faith doesn’t grow., instead, we grow in Faith. We are built up in and on Faith.

Apostle Paul said, “I commend you to God, and to the Word of His Grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among the saints” (See Acts 20:32).

See this also in Jude 1:20 “But you, beloved, *building yourselves up in your most holy faith* and praying in the Holy Spirit” (ESV).

Amazing!
We are not building our faith when we pray in the Holy Spirit. We are instead building ourselves in Faith. Just as the Word of Grace also builds us up. Hallelujah!

The more you hear the message of Grace, the more you increase in faith. The more you are built up in Faith, the more you become unwavering. You don’t stagger when you keep looking unto Jesus and His finished work. When your heart is flooded by the lights of the radical gospel, you become tough in faith. You feel discouraged, condemned, defeated and dismayed every time you hear messages that make you focus on your self efforts. Such messages are not of faith. The message of faith makes you do big things with God. When you come into Christ your life is to be lived in Faith. Everything you receive and enjoy is in Faith (See Galatians 3:1-9). By this gospel you walk in the reality and abundance of your blessings.

When you are not receiving the right message:

  1. You waver in faith and are tossed to and fro.
  2. You feel you have to do and struggle more to please God.
  3. You question your righteousness. You always feel God is angry with you.

You become unwavering in Faith when you feast and focus on Jesus who is the author and finisher of your faith.

Shalom Aleichem…
