Beloved, Holiness is the very being of God. God is Holy. (Psalm 99:3,5,9)
This is the truth, there’s no contrast of God neither is there any contrast in Him. For with God there’s no shadow of turning. (James 1:17)
It will interest you to know that, in God darkness is not even the opposite of Light, but the womb of Light (will serve you with details on this later).
“Sinlessness” is not the definition of Holiness.
That which God is, is actually not defined by what He is not.
Who and what He is, is what explains, defines, reveals and expresses Him. He doesn’t need any external thing to explain who He is. That is why John the beloved Apostle said “No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him.” John 1:18
For God to be fully explained and understood, He has to be begotten as the Son, to explain Him.
The very explanation of God issued from His bosom.
This is something to shout about!!!
Gloreeeey… Yeah, i’m so excited.
To say God is Holy because He doesn’t sin, is an insult to who He is. Sin doesn’t define Him.
Holiness is the wholeness of God. Holiness doesn’t just mean separation unto God. Holiness is God’s being. We are Holy not because we are separated unto God, we are Holy not because we try to behave right. We are Holy simply because God dwells in us.
Glory to God
Let look at this interesting story in Exodus 3:1-6 (KJV) :
1 Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb.
2 And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.
3 And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.
4 And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.
5 And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.
6 Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.”
This is so interesting, the question is “how did the grounds where Moses was standing become holy ground?”
And again, what right thing did the burning bush do to make the grounds holy?
You realise it was just because the Lord was present in that place. The ground was Holy because God was there, speaking in the burning bush. His presence made the grounds Holy.
You are Holy not because of what you do nor trying to do. You are Holy because God lives in you.
We function in the reality of Holiness because we are made Holy by God indwelling Us.
The Most Holy place which was in the tabernacle and temple, was called Most Holy because it had the presence of God descending there.
When Jesus gave up His Spirit, the veil in the Temple, which separated the Most Holy Place from the Holy place, and the outer court rent in two.
“Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;” Matthew 27:50-51
The presence of God is no longer kept in the Most Holy Place in the temple. The temple is no longer the Most Holy Place.
Now through Christ’s finished work, God doesn’t dwell in temples made of hands any more.
“Which also our fathers that came after brought in with Jesus into the possession of the Gentiles, whom God drove out before the face of our fathers, unto the days of David; Who found favour before God, and desired to find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob. But Solomon built him an house. Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet, Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest? Hath not my hand made all these things?” (Acts 7:45-50).
God now dwells in Us. We are now the temple of God. (1 Corinthians 6:19).
We are now the most Holy place.
By the finished work of Christ, we were made holy once and for all.
“For by one offering he has perfected for all time those who are made holy.” Hebrews 10:14
Now we are called Holy brethren and we are made partakers of the heavenly calling.
“Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;’ Hebrews 3:1
Beloved, it’s not what you feel about yourself, it is what God says about you and how God sees you in Christ.
Holiness is not a feeling and doing.
Holiness is a being (who God has made you to be).
You are not going to be made Holy tomorrow nor after death. You are made Holy now in Christ. You are part of the Holy brethren.
In the sight of God you are without blemish. You are in His presence as Holy as He is.
“Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault.” Colossians 1:22 NLT)
We live right not because we want to be Holy. We live right now because we are made Holy.
